Dr Elahe Nikooharf Salehi

Research Associate

Dr Elahe Nikooharf Salehi completed her PhD in Public Health from the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Queensland. She is currently a Research Associate at the Mater Research Institute, The University of Queensland, where she leads and supports multidisciplinary projects in public health, behavioural science, and maternal care, with a particular focus on health equity, culturally safe care, and the prevention of stillbirth.

Elahe’s research encompasses a broad range of populations, including women during pregnancy, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, migrant and refugee families, children, older adults, and athletes. Her methodological expertise spans longitudinal and compositional data analysis, experimental design, and large-scale survey research. She has advanced analytical skills in R and Stata and extensive experience in data modelling, evaluation, and evidence synthesis.

She has been the recipient of several competitive awards and scholarships, including the Joan Allsop Travel Scholarship (The University of Queensland, 2022), Professional Development Award (ARC Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child, 2023), Faculty of Medicine Researcher Development Award (The University of Queensland, 2024).

Elahe has contributed to successful competitive grant development, clinical guideline development, and project management within the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Stillbirth. She has an excellent record in research translation, having contributed to policy-relevant reports for the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care and other national organisations. Her work has been published in leading international journals across public health, medicine, and behavioural science. She is committed to producing impactful, evidence-based research that informs clinical practice, strengthens policy, and contributes to equitable health outcomes across diverse communities.
